WHAT HAPPENED:
Three months after the McConnaugheys moved onto the renovated Haw Branch
Plantation, strange things began happening on this day in 1965 and
continued at six month intervals. On the 23rd of May and the 23rd of
November, from 1965 until 1968 and beyond.
On this date in 1965 and 1966, the McConnaugheys were awakened by a woman's bloodcurdling scream. Six months later, to the day, they heard the scream again.
On this date in 1967, the McConnaugheys prepared for the anticipated scream, and sat up from dawn until midnight with a tape recorder. They heard nothing.
On this date in 1968 (and several times after), the scream was heard a gain.
