THIS DAY IN HISTORY (TDIH)
OCT-07 <<<< OCT-08 >>>> OCT-09
LOCATION:
Gevaudan, France
WHAT HAPPENED:
On this date in 1764, two hunters shot at a creature, known to many of
the local residents as "loup-garou," french for werewolf.
The creature was thought to be responsible for many horrifying deaths from 1764 to 1767, many women and children were literally ripped to pieces.
After getting shot at by the hunters, the creature limped away. Many thought it had simply gone somewhere to die, but a few days later when the killings continued, everyone figured the it had somehow survived.
After one considerably vicious attack, the French government finally offered a large reward for the death of the beast.
