THIS DAY IN HISTORY (TDIH)
JUN-21 <<<< JUN-22 >>>> JUN-23
LOCATIONS:
Tripoli, Lebanon
Eaton Square, London, UK
WHAT HAPPENED:
This one's for all those people who blindly follow the rules, no matter
what:
Early in the afternoon, just off Tripoli, Admiral Sir George Tryon gave the signal that all the ships, which were traveling in a two column formation about six cables apart (1,200 yards), were to reverse direction by turning towards each other.
Rear Admiral Alber Hastings Markham, who was leading the other column with the HMS Camperdown, saw that the ships were way too close and questioned the order. Admiral Tryon confirmed the order, the ships turned and as a result, the Camperdown crashed into the bow of the HMS Victoria which sank in under 15 minutes.
Of the 649 men on board, 358 (including Admiral Tryon) went down with the ship. At about the same time 2,000 miles away while his wife Clementina was throwing a party, Sir George appeared and walked among the people at the party. The tragic news of the Victoria didn't reach London until some days later.

WHAT HAPPENED:
To date, only two people have ever seen the inside of a tornado.
Will Keller pretty much gives the same description as to what happened to Roy Hall on May 3, 1943:
" ...and seemed to be partly filled with a bright cloud, which shimmered like a fluorescent light. This brilliant cloud was in the middle of the funnel, not touching the sides."
